Raising Awareness Of Ecological Principles Among The Community In The Segala Mider Village, Tanjung Karang Barat Subdistrict, Through a Rabb (Taskhir, Imarah, Khalifah) Based Environmental Education Approach

Abstract

This article reports a community service activity, not an empirical research study; the data presented are descriptive-evaluative in nature and are intended to document and assess program implementation rather than to test hypotheses. The community in Segala Mider Village, Tanjung Karang Barat District, still shows a low level of awareness of the importance of protecting and caring for their surrounding environment. This is evident in the condition of rivers and residential areas experiencing pollution, garbage accumulation, and exploitation of natural resources without regard to the principles of sustainability. In response, students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of UIN Raden Intan Lampung initiated the Socialization of Ecological Principles activity as a strategic effort to raise ecological awareness. The activity's success was assessed through participation indicators (number of participants, attendance rate), a pre-test/post-test comparison of participants' understanding, and qualitative testimonies collected through interviews. This socialization integrates the scientific aspects of ecology with an understanding of environmental principles from an Islamic worldview perspective, namely Rabb, Taskhir, Imarah, and Khalifah, positioned here as a novel values-based environmental education model applied through a non-institutional, community-based KKN outreach setting. The activity is expected to be a first step in instilling love, responsibility, and concern for the environment among the residents of Segala Mider Village, while building an ecological culture rooted in Islamic spiritual and moral values.
